How To Get Alexa To Be Rude

How to Make Alexa Swear

Want to have a bit of fun with Amazon's Alexa? We'll show you how to make the personal assistant swear.

We've all had that moment when we wanted to show off our new smart home device. Sure, you can simply ask Amazon's Alexa to turn the lights off and on.

However, there are more entertaining ways to make a statement. What better way to do it than with a little profanity? We'll show you how.

Make an Announcement

Alexa announcements simultaneously say something across Echo devices in your home. While most people will use this feature for boring things like asking everyone to go down for dinner or give an upcoming trip reminder, you can also use it to get all your Echo devices to swear altogether.

To do this, give the command "Alexa announce" and say all the uncensored profanities you want to share. Then, Alexa will repeat it to everyone, exactly the way you said it.

Play a Game of Simon Says

Alexa loves to play games, and one of them even lets you ask it swear (sort of). When playing Simon Says, Alexa will parrot whatever it is that you say. While obviously foul words are blocked, words that phonetically sound like them are not.

For example, instead of using the word f*ck, you can say faq or falk. If you can't think of the right word, you can go to RhymeZone for help.

Ask Samuel L. Jackson for Help

With the Samuel L. Jackson Alexa voice, you don't just get more than 30,000 new phrases on Amazon smart home devices. You also get five times more explicit content.

To get your favorite celebrity shout profanities in your ear all day, say, "Alexa, introduce me to Samuel L. Jackson."

After confirming your purchase, make sure to say, "Alexa, turn the explicit filter on/off." Afterward, you can expect it to say, "I'm not reminding you of s**t." whenever you ask it to do basic things like update shopping lists, create reminders, or enable Alexa skills.

Get Alexa to Swear On Command

Designed as a family-friendly companion to every home, Amazon Alexa was not originally for anything that isn't PG-13. Thankfully, it's easy to ask Alexa to switch gears. While Alexa is very good at detecting most profanities, some swear words can still slip until the radar.

As Amazon continues to develop more interactive content for Alexa, we're likely to get more options for people who just can't stop swearing.
